Introduced by Audi in 2006, the Audi R8 is a mid-engine two-seater sports car. The car was exclusively manufactured, designed and developed by Audi Sport GmbH, which is a subsidiary of Audi AG. In 2005 Audi announced that their new road car in 2007 will be called R8, the same name of the successful Audi R8 race car. The R8 was officially introduced in 2006 during the Paris Auto Show, three years after its sister model, the Lamborghini Gallardo was released in Geneva. The Gallardo and the R8 share the same brake system, an almost identical V10 engine and the same all-wheel drive system. Moreover, the R8 was the first production car with full LED headlamps.
