In the 1950s, an elite unit of the French Navy who were responsible for their own diving equipment, were not satisfied with any of the current diving watches on the market. They set out to make their own watch that they considered suitable for diving. The result was a partnership with Blancpain and the creation of the watch known as the Fifty Fathoms. This watch was originally retailed by the dive equipment outlet “Aqua-Lung”.
This vintage Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Aqua-Lung Diver boasts a stainless steel case presented on a brown leather strap that is fitted with a tang buckle. The watch is powered by a self-winding movement and indicates hours, minutes and seconds on the black dial. It is water-resistant to approximately 300 meters.
The watch is offered in nice vintage condition, shows normal wear from use, and includes a gift box.
