How much does a private island cost? Price at a glance:
A private island is not only a real estate or an asset to invest in; it’s a lifestyle. But exactly how much does this private island “get-away-from-it-all” lifestyle cost?
Thus far in 2020, there have been about 60 private islands put up for sale worldwide. The most expensive private island for sale this year is located in Thailand: 110 acres (approx. 45 Ha) of undeveloped, white-sand and rainforest-covered land that lies near Phuket and Coconut island.
Smaller islands best-suited not for resort development but for building personal hideaways include today’s highest-priced example: a $23,000,000 private island in North Eleuthera Bahamas with a history of notable owners.
It’s also possible to find a cheaper, more affordable island for about $500,000, such as this 62-acre, $502,000 private island listed for sale in Chile.
And, as might be expected, where price is concerned, location is crucial. So, we decided to take a closer look at the private island markets in the five most sought-after destinations: the Caribbean, South Pacific, Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America.
