A timeless property located in the lush Salento countryside, Masseria Acquadolce features elegant late 19th-century architecture typical of the region. It was the central core of an agricultural estate, characterized by various straw huts and trulli intended for local families for the cultivation of olives and crops of the time. Today, it serves as a luxury residence for wellness-focused vacations with personalized service. The latest renovation has allowed this place, a unique landscape feature, to tell many years of history. The conservation of common spaces, interior rooms, and natural environments as they were lived then, have been restored and adapted to today’s comforts to be productive and accessible to modern life. The dry stone wall fencing system includes, besides the main body made up of courtyards and independent rooms, also the open parking and the separate volumes of the Pool House and the caretaker’s house. The latter, still active, offers service to the Masseria throughout the year. From its vast property area overlooking the surrounding landscape, stretching as far as the eye can see, its entrance avenue lined with maritime pines visible even from the pool area garden enhances the beauty of the place.
The communication between the living area, featuring a representative lounge characterized by star vaults and two Lecce stone fireplaces, and the external garden area with the Pool House, the pool, and the outdoor area rich in sunbathing spots and green areas, makes spending the days a pleasure and leaves room for relaxation, conviviality, and the slow country life.
A sense of hospitality and sweet life is felt in every part of the property which, brought to its maximum capacity with its nine bedrooms, can accommodate up to 18 guests. All comfortably arranged in rooms of about 20 or 30 square meters with en suite bathrooms and independent access both internally from the main body and externally from the courtyards of the second building.
From a technical standpoint, the Masseria’s system includes underfloor heating in the living area with a gas/LPG boiler for heating only. The sleeping area, on the other hand, has hot and cold fan coils.
The project, completed by a renowned team of national and local architects and its constant maintenance since the day of establishment, are fundamental elements to understand the state of the Property still used by the same owners and in perfect working order.
An oasis of peace immersed in greenery and perfectly equidistant from the two seas that wash the Salento coasts.

Descrizione della posizione

The historic center of Ruffano retains the typical layout of Salento villages: narrow alleys, houses clustered together, and inner courtyards that were once shared living spaces. The clear and luminous Lecce stone dominates the architecture and reflects the intense southern light, giving the town a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Among the most significant buildings stands the Mother Church of St. Francis of Assisi, the religious and symbolic heart of the community, alongside noble palaces that testify to Ruffano’s historical importance. The town’s history is rooted in antiquity: Messapian and Roman traces tell of a settlement inhabited since ancient times, while the Middle Ages have left evident marks in the urban organization and religious traditions. Ruffano has managed to traverse the centuries while keeping its identity alive, adapting to changes without losing its connection to the past. The cultural and social life is marked by festivals and rituals that involve the entire population. The patronal celebrations, processions, and festivals represent moments of strong cohesion, where music, folk dances, and typical flavors become an authentic expression of Salento culture. The local cuisine, simple and genuine, highlights the products of the land: extra virgin olive oil, legumes, vegetables, and bread tell a still-living rural tradition. Today, Ruffano is a place that combines tranquility and authenticity. It is not a noisy tourist destination but a town to be discovered slowly, listening to the stories of its inhabitants and observing the daily rhythms. It is a city that explains itself through details: a lively square at sunset, the sound of bells, the aroma of cooking wafting from houses. Ruffano, in the heart of Salento, is an example of how memory, territory, and community can coexist in harmony. In Ruffano, the palazzo historically considered the most important is Palazzo Pizzolante, also known as the Baronial Palace. It is located in the heart of the historic center and is one of the buildings that best represent the noble and administrative past of the town. The palace was the residence of the Pizzolante family, one of the most influential noble families in Ruffano between the 16th and 18th centuries. The Pizzolante family held prominent roles in the feudal management of the territory and contributed significantly to the political, economic, and social life of the village. Their presence profoundly marked the urban and institutional development of the city.
