Futuristic UFO-Style Home Once Rented by Justin Bieber Now on the Market
The Glass House in Beverly Hills, CA, United States

This stunning UFO-esque home, also nicknamed the Salad Spinner for its cylindrical shape, has hit the market in Beverly Hills for just under $35 million.

Officially called the Glass House, this property has caught the eye of many tastemakers since its inception in 2009 and Justin Bieber once rented it out for $59,000 a month. The sale is being handled by Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker Realty – Beverly Hills.

Perched on a lofty plot overlooking Los Angeles, the Glass House serves up unparalleled views of the metropolis and the mountains beyond.

With floor-to-ceiling windows running throughout, along with slick minimalist furnishings, the breathtaking vistas certainly take center stage.

A Home Designed for Living and Entertaining

While it serves as a liveable home decked out with six bedrooms, the Glass House also makes for the perfect entertainment hub, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space to play with.

At the heart of the property is a circular terrace space, decked out with mature olive trees.

Well-thought-out lighting makes the architectural detailing come alive by night, making a bold impression on even the most seasoned houseguest.

In total, the home offers 7,500 sq ft of living space with voluminous rooms, grand scale soaring ceilings, and an abundance of modern amenities.

The open-plan living spaces seamlessly flow to abundant outdoor areas.

Four bedrooms are housed in the main cylindrical structure, while the master suite and a guest room are located in the oval-shaped wing.

Moving outside, along with the inner courtyard, standout features include a large terrace, a sail-shaped infinity pool, and a manicured garden.

A spacious six-car garage, elevator, and state-of-the-art security system are other perks of the property.

An Architect’s Vision and a Storied Past

The Glass House was designed by celebrated architect Ed Niles, who is known for his distinctive futuristic steel and glass homes in and around the area.

It was commissioned by real estate developer Raffi Cohen, who wanted a home for his family that would ‘feel open to nature but insulated from society’.

Speaking about his design inspiration, Malibu-based Niles says: “The primary thing here was to envelop the family into a big inner court, not unlike a traditional Spanish home, where all the family activities would occur.” Even though the family is separated by distance, they are also not separated by the fact you can look across the court.

“That’s quite different from what normal houses are, where everything is separated by hallways.’

He added that most of his work is ‘in a sense, skeletal… It’s made up of the understanding of pieces, of parts. It’s not made up of just rooms and blocks.”

The property is being offered for sale by a Los Angeles-based doctor, who purchased it in 2014 for $10.5 million. Since snapping it up, the unnamed owner has been renting it out, with the monthly fees ranging from $50,000 to $85,000.

Bieber was one of his first tenants and soon after that, rapper Meek Mill reportedly threw a lavish party to celebrate the Grammys in 2015, which got him sued.
