Hartfield is a pretty East Sussex village positioned on the northern fringe of Ashdown Forest, home of Winnie the Pooh, with its 6,400 acres of heath/woodland for riding (by permit) and walking. The village has a Pooh shop, local store, Inn, specialist butchers shop and modern Health Centre, as well as a farm shop close by at Perry Hill. The larger village of Forest Row, and the major towns of East Grinstead, Crawley and Tunbridge Wells are all nearby and provide an extensive range of shops/supermarkets, leisure facilities and rail services to a number of London Stations. Cowden station is within five miles and steam railways at Groombridge and East Grinstead for the enthusiasts of that bygone era. Gatwick Airport/Station and the M23 motorway are within twenty five miles. Sports facilities in the area include a number of golf courses including the East Sussex National at Uckfield, horse racing at Lingfield, Plumpton & Brighton, as well as sailing/angling at Weirwood Reservoir in Forest Row. Brighton and the South Coast is approximately twenty five miles. There is a good selection of both state and private schools within a ten mile radius.
