. A wide wrought-iron gate opens onto a drive leading to the main building. Commissioned around 1850 by Guillaume de Sermaise, the brick-and-stone residence is Napoleon III in style. Regular bays and roof dormers punctuate the façade, and a double staircase emphasises its symmetry while rising to the entrance. The Empire general’s coat of arms still appears on the pediment. To the rear, a glass veranda extends the reception spaces, and a rooftop terrace opens onto the wooded grounds. The estate preserves the broad lines of its original layout. Its founding core comprises a villa in Saint-Maximin stone, a 17th-century house once owned by a family of gentlemen glassmakers, former red-brick stables and a sheep shed.

The property has had several functions over time, notably serving as the seat of the Kommandantur during the Second World War. The poet Paul Éluard’s daughter was also born here, in 1918.
