Barrett-Jackson has consigned a historic 1,800 No-Reserve vehicles, the most on record for any public collector car auction, for its 48th Annual Scottsdale Auction, January 12-20, 2019, at WestWorld of Scottsdale.
Among the 1,800 collector cars being sold at No Reserve during the ultimate celebration of the hobby are the highly coveted Saturday Showcase Cars, presented by E.D. Marshall and Zenith. Saturday’s offering features some of the most revered luxury, performance and rare collector cars, including a rare 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 6×6 (Lot #1410).
This Mercedes-Benz 6×6 truck is what the company calls the declaration of automotive independence. Mercedes produced very limited numbers of the G63 worldwide, with very few ever making it to the U.S.
The near-production-standard Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 show car is uncompromising. It is the most effortlessly superior and extravagant off-roader ever to be developed and built by engineers. Its performance and equipment are in a league of their own. It combines the engine from the G63, a twin-turbo V8, with 6×6 portal axles, a pickup version of the G-Class body and a luxury interior.
The G63 AMG 6×6 features 6-wheel drive running on a 5.5-liter, 536hp, twin-turbo DOHC 32-valve V8 AMG engine. The vehicle is fitted with Mercedes’ 7G-tronic 7-speed automatic transmission, its transfer case can alter between a 0.87:1 high-range ratio for on-road driving and 2.16:1 low-range ratio for off-road conditions to all six wheels in a nominal 30:40:30 split. An extra shaft delivers power to the rearmost axle. The vehicle has five electronic differential locks, which can deliver 100% lockup of all six wheels, operated by three switches on the dashboard.
The G63 AMG 6×6 is 5875mm in length, 2110mm in width and 2210mm in height, having ground clearance of 460mm and fording depth at 1000mm. The vehicle is installed with 18-inch beadlock wheels wrapped with 37” tires, has a 4196-mm wheelbase and has 4,105 kg of curb weight. The G63 AMG 6×6 can deliver 0 to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds.
With 536hp and more in torque, six driven wheels, off-road reduction gear in the transfer case, portal axles, five differentials which can be locked while on the move and a tire pressure control system that operates at world-record speed, the G63 AMG 6×6 is made to meet all the challenges and has 965 actual miles.
“With over 1,800 cars set to cross the block, this is will be our largest consignment in history,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “It’s an honor that a record number of our customers have consigned their collector cars for this month’s Scottsdale Auction. We’re using every square inch of our facility to showcase these beautiful cars, and will have 37 hours of live TV coverage on MotorTrend and Discovery. We couldn’t be more excited about what’s going to happen in Scottsdale this year. The world’s attention will be focused on Barrett-Jackson and it’s going to be phenomenal.”
