History The Manor House was built in the late 17th century and was once owned by Sir Peter Lely, the principal painter to King Charles. The name of the town itself, Princes Risborough, comes from the “brushwood covered hills” and the fact that the manor was owned by the Black Prince, the son of Edward III, during the 14th century.
