Montauroux is a hilltop village in the Var department of Provence, positioned between the Esterel massif and the Lac de Saint-Cassien. The village retains a genuinely Provençal character, with stone lanes, a Romanesque church, and views across forested hills toward the coast. It sits at an elevation that keeps it cooler than the littoral in summer, and its relative distance from the tourist circuit of the Côte d’Azur gives it a quieter, more residential quality.

The village centre has a weekly market, a handful of restaurants, and a boulangerie within easy reach. Lac de Saint-Cassien, roughly five kilometres away, is a significant freshwater lake popular for sailing and fishing. Fayence, the main market town of the area, is about ten minutes by car and offers a broader range of shops, restaurants, and services.

Cannes is approximately 35 kilometres to the south, reachable in around 40 minutes by car via the A8 autoroute. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is roughly 55 kilometres away, with a drive time of 50 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. There is no direct rail connection to Montauroux itself; the nearest SNCF stations are at Les Arcs-Draguignan to the west or Cannes to the south, both requiring a car transfer.
