Long winters, fresh mountain air and world-class slopes without the crowds make Norway a place to return to, season after season. At Svartskard in Kvitfjell, this apartment brings the landscape into the home through expansive glazing and an impressive double-height living space.

Across approximately 112.4 m² and two levels, the apartment combines a sociable main floor with a separate loft lounge and sleeping area. Direct ski-in/ski-out access puts the mountain within easy reach.

KVITFJELL - WORLD-CLASS SKIING, ROOM TO ENJOY IT

North of Lillehammer in Norway’s Gudbrandsdalen valley, Kvitfjell hosted alpine events during the 1994 Winter Olympics and remains a regular venue for Alpine Ski World Cup races.

Across three mountainsides, beginners can learn on gentle green runs, intermediate skiers can explore long blue and red pistes, and experienced skiers can challenge themselves on the black Olympic slopes. Ski schools, equipment rental and children’s areas make the resort equally practical for family holidays.

Long, cold winters and natural snowfall, supported by extensive snowmaking, help sustain an extended season. Carefully groomed pistes and quieter slopes appeal to those who want their days to revolve around skiing.

DOUBLE-HEIGHT LIVING WITH MOUNTAIN VIEWS

The main living area of this apartment rises to approximately 7.5 metres, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the valley and alpine slopes. A bioethanol fireplace provides a focal point for evenings indoors, while the south-facing 8 m² balcony offers a place for morning coffee or a break in the mountain air.

The approximately 38.5 m² kitchen, dining and living area keeps cooking, conversation and time together in one open space. Two bedrooms located beyond the entrance hall, including a main bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. A separate bathroom serves the second bedroom and shared living areas.

Upstairs, the loft provides another lounge, a third sleeping room and a bathroom. Glass balustrades preserve views through the double-height space, while the second lounge gives children or guests somewhere of their own to relax. The arrangement allows different generations to share the apartment comfortably, with space to gather and space to withdraw.

CONTEMPORARY DESIGN BY LHM INTERIOR

The kitchen specification combines brown oak veneer cabinetry, Dekton work surfaces, integrated Miele appliances and a Temptech wine cooler. Oak flooring and an oak staircase with glass and metal detailing connect the two levels, while geothermal underfloor heating provides warmth throughout.

The interior scheme includes Rolf Benz seating, statement lighting from Bomma and bespoke furniture. Loose furniture, additional cabinetry, decorative items and textiles are listed as extras; the sales team can confirm the complete package and purchase specification.

SVARTSKARD — SKIING STARTS AT THE SKI ROOM

Set approximately 870 metres above sea level on Kvitfjell’s western mountainside, Svartskard enjoys favourable sun exposure and open mountain views. A red piste runs directly beside the development, giving owners ski-in/ski-out access.

Collect your equipment from the dedicated ski storage facilities and head onto the slopes. Shared preparation facilities, lockable lockers and boot drying keep equipment organised and ready for the next day. Private garage storage provides room for belongings between visits.

Svartskard comprises 16 individually designed apartments developed by LHM, a builder of premium mountain homes and apartments. An underground parking space is included with B24.

REASONS TO RETURN BEYOND WINTER

The surrounding mountains offer cross-country skiing, hiking, cycling and fishing, with routes through woodland and open terrain towards Rondane and Huldreheimen. Mountain restaurants provide places to meet for lunch or dinner after a day outdoors.

For owners, a home here becomes a familiar base for different seasons: ski weekends in winter, longer walks in summer and holidays that develop into family traditions.

GETTING TO KVITFJELL

Oslo Gardermoen Airport is the main international gateway. Allow approximately 2–2.5 hours by car to Kvitfjell, with additional time depending on the final mountain address, traffic and weather.

Selected trains connect the airport with Kvitfjell station in approximately two hours and 15 minutes. A taxi or arranged transfer completes the journey to Svartskard.
