A love story that defies time. The Pic house is not just a simple dwelling; it is a lover whose boldness must continue to be cherished! Listed as a Historic Monument since 2008, this total work of art embodies a vision as radical as it is poetic. Built between 1956 and 1959, this unique modernist villa is the result of a close and passionate collaboration between architect Georges Lacaze and his client, Jean-Paul Pic, a trained sculptor turned industrialist in Bergerac. Its interior layout and decoration were entirely enhanced by designer and interior architect René Fray. From the outside, the house strikes with the boldness of its lines: - A suspended volume, resting on stilts, almost levitating, where the Dordogne flows through a hollowed base. At the start of the discovery, we flirt with a zigzag turquoise blue railing that begins this first chromatic dialogue. It is a regenerating architecture, a visual symphony where every shade tells a joyful rebellion! Material and color become a manifesto that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, the utilitarian into the poetic. In an absolute synthesis of the arts, all senses are engaged through a journey mixing mirror games, wall-to-wall carpets, filtering glass tiles, patterned tiles, and terrazzo floors. The magic of the 1950s works instantly. Imagine, you open the door and suddenly about 80 m² of pure living space, flooded with light, open to the river. No walls to hold back the landscape, just you, the space, and the Dordogne sparkling in the distance: a spectacular visual breakthrough... The interior atmosphere is punctuated by a huge custom-made library covered in period patterned fabric, as well as a sculptural metal wood stove creating a playful yet warm ambiance, originally designed as a pleasure and reception house. The living and dining rooms also open onto a large suspended balcony covered with turquoise blue mosaic, offering a panoramic and unobstructed view of the Dordogne below. An independent kitchen, in very pastel tones, remains incredibly functional and fully contributes to the house’s identity and daily comfort. The sleeping area is wisely distributed on either side of this vast living space to ensure everyone’s privacy and tranquility. A master suite awaits you like a suspended refuge, timeless, also opening onto this sumptuous panoramic terrace. Here, waking up facing the river is an exclusive tête-à-tête with nature. Its adjoining bathroom is a true ode to mosaic craftsmanship. Curved lines and faience details create a boudoir atmosphere, turning the morning ritual into a purely artistic moment. Ideally arranged, three other bedrooms unfold their own magic. Far from monotony, each stands out with a strong character, highlighted by graphic tiles, custom woodwork, and unique texture plays. Accompanied by their own bathrooms, these rooms offer your guests or family absolute comfort! The house’s base hosts an entrance hall with very graphic lines and fluidly distributes a large closed garage as well as various technical spaces essential for daily comfort. It is also at this level, under the stilts, that the property’s best-kept secret is hidden: A large indoor pool opening directly onto a terrace thanks to a fully retractable glass wall. This indoor pool is enhanced by a monumental enamel mural signed by the famous artist Paul Corriger, bringing a unique artistic dimension to the place. You dive in, come out slowly, losing track of time. The river remains in the background, weekend mornings stretch out, and the light changes hour by hour. It is the rare and precious feeling of being alone in the world, suspended facing nature, without having left the city of Bergerac. The house has preserved most of its original elements, making it an exceptional historical witness and particularly pleasant to live in. This villa is not visited; it is lived in from the very first second. It is simply unique, like a work of art... Seize the opportunity to become the next guardian of this modernist masterpiece!
