The Quinta da Granja is a truly unique estate in the region of Tomar, distinguished both by its impressive size approximately 232 hectares and by the architectural grandeur of its main building, whose origins date back to the 16th century.
The main residence currently offers a gross construction area of over 2,000 sqm, distributed across two floors and 37 rooms:
The ground floor, originally intended for agricultural use, now features a spacious entrance hall with original stone slab flooring, structuring the entire layout. To the right, there is a small prayer area (already refurbished) and a room with stone arches leading to several bedrooms, many of them en-suite. To the left, a striking staircase provides access to the upper floor, alongside a wing of large suites (yet to be completed), the former olive press, and technical areas.
The first floor, well preserved, boasts solid wood flooring, several reception rooms, coffered ceilings, a library, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Two rooms stand out in particular: one clad in ’diamond-point’ tiles dating from the first half of the 17th century, and a grand hall opening onto the former monks’ cells.
Due to its historical and heritage significance, the property was classified as a Property of Public Interest in 1996. While a large part of the estate is in good condition, some areas in the immediate surroundings of the manor house require restoration.
The rural component extends across 232 hectares and includes irrigated land, vineyard, arable crops, pasture, woodland and poplar groves, as well as agricultural buildings and a natural watercourse. The vineyard currently covers approximately 2 hectares, with strong potential for expansion. Energy Rating: Exempt #ref:SAVLBN1221
