Discreetly tucked away on the outskirts of Cahors, behind electric gates and a magnificent cedar tree from Lebanon, this beautiful 19th-century barn has been transformed into a very elegant home. It’s a peaceful, private spot, quiet enough to hear your own voice think, yet everything you could possibly need is within a short walk, and the historic center is just a short drive away. It’s hard to imagine a better-located house, and we found it.
The environment
The house is situated in an elegant residential area, on a 3,600 m² plot adorned with gardens and green spaces. The cedar tree is the undisputed centerpiece, having gracefully dominated the grounds for generations. The mature plantings lend the property a peaceful, rural character, while the town remains just a short walk away.
The Main House
An entrance and porch covered in wisteria set the tone, and in spring, they are what speak the most.
The ground floor is wonderfully practical, with a large garage block, stables, and numerous rooms currently used for storage and workshops. Whether you have a collection of classic cars, a passion for pottery, or simply an inability to throw things away, there’s space for it all.
On the first floor, the living spaces are arranged on the first floor, where the character of the attic truly comes into its own:

Living room: a large open space under a cathedral ceiling, with an open fireplace for winter evenings. A door leads to the covered terrace, and glass doors provide access to the rear travertine terrace overlooking the garden.
Kitchen: modern and well-equipped, with sliding doors opening onto the terrace, allowing you to have breakfast outdoors with minimal effort.
Bedrooms and bathrooms: elegant bedrooms and practical bathrooms, all perfectly maintained.

Double glazing and natural gas central heating ensure year-round comfort, so there are no unexpected surprises in this part of the building.
The annex
A separate two-bedroom annex, attached to the main house, has a private terrace. It is currently rented out, but could equally well accommodate family or friends (who could then be invited to stay), be used as an Airbnb rental, or remain available long-term. In any case, it offers a valuable source of income.
Outside
The 12 x 6 m swimming pool has a sun terrace ideal for relaxing afternoons, while the gardens offer plenty of shade and space for walking.
