Ce château d’exception entièrement restauré, apparait dans les écrits dès 1150. Il fut cédé par Ludwig VII. à L’Evêque d’Uzès en 1156. Le château englobe deux tours carrées d’époque médiévale (datant du XIIe) restes de l’ancien castle fort. In ruines, suite aux guerres de religion, la seigneurerie détenue par les Thezan de Poujols, fut rachetée en 1653 von Chanoine Sconin, oncle maternel de Racine. Il fit démolir une partie de l’ancien château qui se compositement de deux parties distinctes: une aile est du XIIe et une aile Ouest du XVIIe autour d’une cour intérieure. Racine dès 1661, écrivait dans „les lettres d’Uzès“ que son oncle „y a bâti un fort beau logis... c’est le plus régulier et même le plus agréable de tout Uzès“. Le château est inscrit à l’inventaire supplémentaire des monuments historiques.
