Four-Bedroom Riverfront House in Gerês
Built in 1979 from the ruins of an old village in the Peneda-Gerês National Park in Portugal, this ”fantasy” house, for all who encounter its privileged location and incomparable architectural design, is undoubtedly a place of retreat, conviviality, and living.
Located next to the Peneda-Gerês Park, the only national park in Portugal and one of the densest and richest forest areas in the Iberian Peninsula and Southern Europe, boasting an unparalleled variety of animal and plant species, it is considered a small verdant paradise.
With breathtaking surroundings and built according to the architectural vision of Porto architect Vasco Morais Soares, the house creates a romantic setting with direct access to the water via its own staircase and a public beach over 300 meters long, but with almost exclusive access through the land. It is located at a strategic point for access to Northern Portugal as well as the Spanish neighborhood. With a unique and romantic appearance, the land is divided into three uneven lots, totaling 1,000 m2, with large trees and native plants of various types. The house itself, entirely made of granite, has two floors: on the ground floor, there are two bedrooms; a large living and dining room with a fireplace; two bathrooms; a wood-burning stove; a kitchen; and a covered porch, perfect for candlelit dinners. On the upper floor, there is a study and the master bedroom, accessible via an internal wrought-iron bridge. The latter, a wood-paneled bedroom, features a significant central window overlooking the reservoir and natural surroundings. The house also has a garage and an attached woodshed, water from the spring, and electricity supplied by a generator. Visit us!
