Saint-Raphaël occupies a privileged position on the Var coast, midway between Cannes and Saint-Tropez, where the Massif de l’Estérel meets the Mediterranean. The city combines a working port town’s authenticity with the infrastructure of an established Riviera resort. Its coastline stretches across a series of distinct bays, from the central port area to quieter residential sectors such as Boulouris to the east, where red porphyry rock formations define the shoreline and the exposure is predominantly south and south-west.

Daily life centres on the covered market on Place Victor Hugo, the seafront promenade along the Vieux Port, and a reliable restaurant scene including Le Lamparo and La Voile d’Or near the port. The Casino Barrière provides evening entertainment. Fréjus, immediately adjacent, adds Roman heritage sites and additional retail. Saint-Raphaël-Valescure station sits on the main TGV-served coastal line, with direct services to Marseille in under an hour and Paris in approximately four hours. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is around 65 kilometres west, reachable in roughly one hour by car depending on traffic. The A8 motorway provides fast access to Cannes, Nice, and Monaco to the east, and Aix-en-Provence and beyond to the west.
