Palma is the capital of Mallorca and the administrative centre of the Balearic Islands, a city of roughly 400,000 residents that carries genuine cultural and architectural weight. The Old Town, declared a historic site of cultural interest, is defined by its Gothic cathedral, Arab baths, Renaissance palaces, and a dense network of medieval streets that have been progressively occupied by serious galleries, design studios, and well-regarded restaurants over the past two decades.

Daily life in Palma centres on the Mercat de l’Olivar for fresh produce, the Passeig del Born for cafés and retail, and a restaurant scene that includes Michelin-recognised addresses such as Marc Fosh and Aromata. The waterfront Passeig Maritim connects the Old Town to the marina and the Bellver Castle hill within a short walk or cycle.

Palma Airport, Son Sant Joan, sits approximately eight kilometres east of the city centre and handles direct routes to most major European capitals year-round, with significantly expanded schedules from March through October. The ferry terminal in the port connects Palma to Barcelona in approximately seven to eight hours by standard crossing, or around four hours by fast ferry. There is no high-speed rail link to the mainland, making the airport the primary connection for international buyers.
