A fairy tale in Tarn-et-Garonne, with its own dovecote

Near Montcuq and Lauzerte, Tarn-et-Garonne, it is rare for a property to hit the market that makes a real estate agent lose their professional composure. This early 19th-century stone farmhouse, offered for the first time in fifty years, is one of those. Half a century in the same hands, and it shows in the best way: presented in remarkable condition, with quiet confidence.

The Main House

Step inside and let the beautiful stone and old beams speak for themselves. The house includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms, all fully functional so no one has to wait in line in the morning. The elegant living-dining area, featuring an open fireplace, is designed for long lunches and even longer evenings. A modern equipped kitchen allows the cook to prepare a proper meal without compromising 19th-century charm. Double glazing and gas central heating ensure civilized comfort in winter, and beneath it all lies a vaulted stone cellar, perfect for storage or a wine collection that, in this region of France, is only a matter of time.

But the real magic happens outside

Then there is the dovecote. Beautifully restored and converted into a charming one-bedroom cottage, it features the same stone and exposed beams as the main house, and it is probably the most elegant structure ever built for birds. Guests will fight over it. You might struggle to keep them from moving in permanently.

Nearby stands a sturdy stone barn with a brand-new roof and a large open covered side, ready for whatever you have in mind—whether a workshop, a studio, or the most stylish place in the world to park a tractor.

All of this sits on two hectares of mature gardens and parkland, with views that are, frankly, breathtaking (though we urge you to enjoy them first).

The Location

Close to the villages of Montcuq and Lauzerte, with their cafés, bakeries, and perched charm, you will never be far by car from a good croissant.
