LAMA MOCOGNO (province of Modena)

There are some essentials for living well in a mountain house.
In the mountains, it’s crucial to have a beautiful view of the mountains and the valley.
It’s also almost indispensable to have a fireplace to keep warm, because it’s pleasant to see it lit, feel the heat, and hear the crackling of the fire when snow is falling outside.
Additionally, having a fenced garden is quite essential, as it’s nice to have outdoor space where children and dogs can run around. This is even more true if the garden includes a swing, a wood-fired oven, and tables; your experience will be even more complete.
Although not strictly necessary, having a few extra rooms and bathrooms is very convenient. Friends will often visit to enjoy your company and the cool mountain air.
The house I’m talking about today, as you will surely have guessed, has all the elements needed to live happily and comfortably in the mountains!

Cà Valentin is a very old house, with thick, sturdy yellow stone walls and small windows, typical of mountain homes.
The house is located at an altitude (missing information about the elevation above sea level) in the Mocogno hamlet, 4 km from the main town Lama. Lama is easily accessible by car or by e-bike.
Mocogno is a hamlet of Lama situated on the opposite side of the valley from the main town. Here you will find a beautiful church with a very tall bell tower that dominates the hill where Cà Valentin is located.
In the village, there is also a restaurant converted from the old elementary school and some stone houses. Looking elsewhere, you will see the blue sky and green fields…

Cà Valentin is a large, beautiful house, spread over multiple floors and surrounded by terraced land. On these terraces, you will find a variety of plants, from vineyard rows to fruit trees, ornamental plants, and olive trees. All around, a sea of flowers.

As I mentioned, the house is spread over several floors: on the lowest level, there is a lovely cellar used as a tavern, while above it, another cellar with a bathroom serves as an guest room.
Above that is the main house. It has ground-level access from the porch, which also houses the oven and grill, and access to the garden. The house opens into the living room with a fireplace, sofa, and panoramic balcony. From here, three steps lead to the charming and very bright dining room with an exposed ceiling. Beyond that is the red kitchen with the bathroom on the ground floor.
Throughout this floor, the walls feature large exposed stone surfaces and many illuminated niches.
I climb the iron staircase to the two bedrooms. These are large and beautiful; one of them also has a private bathroom.
I go up again to the attic area, beautifully finished, which hosts a nice sofa and a large TV.

Well, outside, there are several buildings. The main one is a woodshed with a lovely shed on top to accommodate two cars.
