Inspired by the meditative compositions of Rothko and Sugimoto, the apartment’s interior unfolds in a serene dialogue of light, texture, and form. Walls were removed to create a fluid expanse where hand-applied silver leaf and European oak define the upper and lower walls of the home-evoking the meeting of earth and sky. Concealed lighting behind oak wainscoting and within ceiling coves bathes the interiors in a soft, ethereal glow.

With extraordinary attention to detail, the design expresses fluidity and fine craftsmanship. The absence of right angles, curving walls, and sculptural cabinetry create a sense of seamless motion throughout, highlighted by the incredible curve of the metal and glass kitchen cabinets. In the bathroom, titanium tiles wrap the walls and ceiling, while a Black Corian surface flows continuously from wall to vanity to nightstand. The living room and bedroom share a stunning, ventless curved fireplace that is open to both rooms.

Furnishings by Vladimir Kagan, a custom Jobim 276 coffee table by Aharoni, and other bespoke pieces echo the apartment’s graceful silhouettes, blending artful design with modern comfort and are included with the sale.

Ghiora Aharoni is the founder of The Ghiora Aharoni Design Studio, whose internationally exhibited work spans the U. S., Europe, India, and Israel. His work is in the collections of The Pompidou Center, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Vatican, The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D. C., The Morgan Library & Museum, The Huntington Library and Museum, and The Anu Museum. Since establishing his studio, Aharoni has designed many residential and commercial projects in New York-ranging from the DeKooning residence and a duplex penthouse in the West Village to the headquarters of a multinational tech firm in Rockefeller Plaza and the offices of an art law firm in a landmark building on 57th Street. Aharoni’s projects have been published internationally in books, newspapers, journals, and magazines.
