In the Valdichiana countryside, just a few kilometres from Cortona, a dirt track leads away from the hustle and bustle of the world, winding through the fields to a Tuscan stone house. Here, the landscape opens out, vast and silent, and the property sits at the heart of five hectares of land, in a peaceful and secluded spot where the days follow the slow rhythm of nature.
The stone house
The house covers 150 m² and retains the typical architecture of the Tuscan countryside, with external stone walls which, in keeping with the tradition of such buildings, retain warmth in the colder months and keep the house cool in the hottest summers. Inside, the rural heritage lives on in the terracotta floors and exposed beams, whilst light floods generously into the rooms and glides over the warm terracotta surfaces.
The ground floor
The ground floor houses the living area, with the living and dining rooms centred around a fireplace which, on winter evenings, becomes the heart of the home. Adjacent to this is the kitchen, and a bathroom completes this level. A slender iron staircase leads up to the upper floor.
The upper floor and the terrace
On the first floor, a cosy relaxation area opens out onto the terrace, the spot where the house overlooks the countryside and from which the panoramic view takes in the hills and the Valdichiana plain, bathed in golden light at sunset. This same floor also houses three bedrooms and a second bathroom, all set in a quiet and light-filled atmosphere.
The swimming pool and outdoor spaces
Spacious outdoor areas stretch out around the house. The swimming pool is flanked by a sun terrace, and a small wrought-iron gazebo provides shade on summer’s days, when lunch stretches into the afternoon and the evening brings with it the scent of the fields and the song of crickets.
