Casa da Ribeira – A family home at the end of a quiet lane, minutes from international schools

Casa da Ribeira sits at the very end of a small private lane shared by only three properties, in Baratã, a green residential area between Sintra and Lisbon. In winter, you can still hear the stream that gave the house its name. Most mornings, the first sound is birdsong.

A day here

Mornings start slowly, with coffee on the suite balcony and an open view over green countryside. The school run is easy: Prime School International is 4 minutes away, Carlucci American International School 7 minutes, and TASIS Portugal 8 minutes.

Quiet and green, yet right next to the A16 motorway: Sintra in about 15 minutes, Lisbon city centre and Lisbon Airport in about 25 to 30 minutes, Cascais and the beaches in about 25 minutes. Belas Clube de Campo, with its golf course, is 12 minutes away.

One last detail

In the garden stands the “pacifier tree”, where the children and cousins who grew up here once left their pacifiers. Families from Denmark and the Nordic countries will recognise the tradition. It was never staged for photos: it is simply part of this home’s story.
