Manacor is Mallorca’s second-largest city and the undisputed capital of the island’s interior east, a place shaped by centuries of craft, agriculture, and wine production. The surrounding comarca is defined by limestone hills, traditional fincas, and some of the island’s most productive viticultural land, operating under the Pla i Llevant Denominació d’Origen. This is not a resort town but a working Mallorcan city with genuine civic identity, known internationally as the birthplace of Rafael Nadal and locally for its furniture-making and pearl industries.

Manacor’s market on Mondays draws producers from across the comarca. The city centre offers everyday infrastructure including supermarkets, banks, medical facilities, and established restaurants serving traditional Mallorcan cuisine. The east coast beaches of Cala Millor, Porto Cristo, and Cala d’Or are all within 20 to 30 minutes by car.

Palma de Mallorca is approximately 50 kilometres west of Manacor, reachable in around 45 minutes via the Ma-15 motorway. Palma Airport, the island’s main international hub, handles direct routes to most major European cities and operates year-round, with significantly expanded capacity during summer. The airport is roughly one hour from Manacor by car. No rail connection currently serves this route directly.
