Herdade do Chamiço, covering 193 hectares, is located near Crato, in the district of Portalegre, in a region characterised by the longstanding agricultural and livestock traditions of Alto Alentejo.
The property includes a former residence, a traditional Alentejo farmhouse with 195 m², requiring comprehensive renovation works, as well as several rural buildings totalling 569 m², currently used to support agricultural and livestock activities, including stables, barns and agricultural storage facilities.
Of particular note is the presence of a large water reservoir and a stream bordering the property, which retains water throughout the year and partially crosses the estate. This availability of water, combined with the quality of the soil and the presence of good groundwater resources, represents one of the property’s key assets.
The estate is predominantly flat with gently undulating areas and comprises traditional olive groves, mature cork oaks producing cork, holm oaks and open areas used as pasture. The extensive low-lying areas downstream from the reservoir allow for the creation of permanent meadows for livestock grazing, while approximately 15 to 20 hectares could also potentially be allocated to super-intensive olive cultivation, making use of the available water resources without compromising the property’s livestock vocation.
Given its characteristics, the estate is particularly well suited to the breeding and fattening of cattle, horses and sheep. It could also accommodate projects related to equestrian tourism or agrotourism.
The property is fully fenced and benefits from good access, both by road and via an approximately 600-metre unpaved track that is fully passable. It is also separated by a local rural road with no through traffic, providing a particularly peaceful and private setting.
A substantial property with significant natural resources, where the availability of water, quality of the soil and existing infrastructure provide the foundations for continuing agricultural and livestock activities or developing new opportunities related to rural and equestrian tourism.
