Hipódromo and Cerrado del Águila form a well-established residential enclave on the eastern edge of Mijas Costa, positioned on elevated ground between Fuengirola and the foothills of the Sierra de Mijas. The area takes its name from the historic Hipódromo de la Costa del Sol racetrack, which has long anchored this part of the coast as a distinct and recognizable address.
