Mijas occupies a privileged position on the Costa del Sol, divided between the whitewashed hilltop village of Mijas Pueblo and the coastal strip of Mijas Costa running along the Mediterranean. The municipality has retained its Andalusian character more successfully than many of its neighbours, with the pueblo’s narrow streets, flower-lined facades, and views across the coast to Africa providing a genuine sense of place that Marbella and Fuengirola, both within easy reach, cannot replicate at this altitude.

Mijas Costa sits adjacent to the Miramar shopping centre in Fuengirola, which covers everyday retail and dining needs. The golf courses of Calanova and Mijas Golf are within a short drive. Marbella’s Puerto Banus marina, with its concentration of restaurants and boutiques, is approximately 25 minutes by car.

Fuengirola train station, roughly five minutes by car from Mijas Costa, connects to Malaga city centre in around 45 minutes on the Cercanias commuter line. Malaga Airport is approximately 20 to 25 minutes by car, with direct flights to most major European cities and connections beyond. The AP-7 motorway provides fast access west to Marbella and east toward Malaga and the wider Andalusian road network.
