The architects Aires Mateus and Frederico Valsassina have succeeded in restoring the palatial character of the building while adapting it to contemporary requirements. The architectural work has revealed the original height of the volumes and the nobility of the proportions. The historic azulejos interact with the contemporary fittings in perfect harmony.
