YOUR SECOND HOME IN NORWAY

Norway’s wild mountains, fresh air and quiet surroundings offer room to breathe and a place for families to return to, year after year. This newly completed LHM home in Geilo is fully furnished and ready for handover before the coming ski season.

GEILO - AN AWARD-WINNING SKI DESTINATION

Set between Oslo and Bergen, Geilo is a mountain village and ski resort named Norway’s Best Ski Resort at the World Ski Awards for seven consecutive years, most recently in 2025. Its alpine slopes, cross-country trails, ski schools and children’s areas welcome different generations and abilities, while restaurants, cafés and shops give the village life beyond the slopes.

A FINISHED HOME WITH MOUNTAIN AND LAKE VIEWS

Large windows open the living spaces to views of the mountains and lake. Light interior tones, oak flooring and contemporary furnishings complement the timber architecture, creating a warm, comfortable home with the landscape always in sight.

The approximately 178 m² house stands on a 923 m² plot. Its open-plan kitchen, dining and living area brings everyone together around the fireplace, with high ceilings and access to the terrace for outdoor meals.

Four bedrooms include two with ensuite bathrooms. The ground-floor master bedroom opens directly onto the terrace, while an upstairs TV lounge provides a separate space for quieter evenings. Four bathrooms and a sauna make the layout practical for family stays and visiting guests.

A bespoke kitchen by LHM Interior, underfloor heating on the ground floor and in the upstairs bathroom, and remote heating control support everyday comfort. Equipment storage and an electric car charger add convenience.

The home offers ski-in/ski-out access to cross-country trails: put on your skis, head into the surrounding landscape and return to your own fireplace and sauna.

LAFTEHOVDA - A SMALL MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY

Laftehovda is an LHM development of 11 planned mountain homes in Geilo’s Kikut South area. Nine are now finished, including this newest home, giving buyers the opportunity to join a community that is already taking shape.

Mountain and lake views, cross-country access and a family-friendly setting define the location. Traditional Norwegian timber architecture and turf roofs connect the homes visually, while contemporary interiors make them comfortable for extended stays.

In warmer months, the surrounding area offers hiking, cycling and fishing. Geilo’s climbing park, zipline and family cycling routes provide further activities, with restaurants and village services within reach.

BUYING IN NORWAY

Foreign citizens can buy property in Norway without being residents. The purchase follows a clear sequence: review the sales documents, submit an offer, sign the agreement and complete settlement and ownership registration.

The appointed estate agent guides buyers through the required documentation, identification checks and registration, including obtaining a Norwegian D-number where needed. Purchase fees and ongoing ownership costs can be explained before an offer is made.

GETTING TO GEILO

Geilo lies between Oslo and Bergen and can be reached by road or rail. From Oslo Gardermoen Airport, allow approximately 3.5–4 hours by car to the home in Laftehovda, depending on traffic and weather. Alternatively, take a train to Oslo Central Station and continue on the Bergen Railway to Geilo—a journey of approximately 3.5 hours from Oslo.

From Bergen, the train to Geilo takes approximately three hours, while the drive from Bergen Airport takes around four hours. Both routes pass through some of Norway’s most striking landscapes. From Geilo station, complete the journey to Laftehovda by taxi or an arranged transfer.
