A Solid Wood Home
The people of Vorarlberg love living in their own homes. However, the dream of owning a house is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve.
With our solid wood semi-detached and terraced houses, we demonstrate how beautiful and comfortable compact housing can be. We offer an alternative to the classic single-family home while still enabling living in your own house.
The project on Kapellenweg in Feldkirch-Tosters proves with 3 solid wood terraced houses and two semi-detached houses that a full-fledged home doesn’t have to be large, but must be smartly planned.
This project is a true stroke of luck. Because on Kapellenweg, not only living space but also life space is created, with plenty of open areas, play, and seating spots.
Where tennis was once played, now cozy homes in the style of British terraced houses are emerging. No anonymous apartment blocks. The terraced houses—all with basements—offer enough space for your home. With three bedrooms each, they are ideal for various life stages and situations.
Very British in the Heart of Tosters
At trimana, we build with experience and passion. Our concepts are not simply imposed on plots; we carefully adapt each project to the local conditions. We also review the current requirements for living space every time.
This is also true for Kapellenweg in Feldkirch-Tosters. The existing buildings around Kapellenweg consist of classic single- and multi-family houses. Therefore, we adopted the idea of the British terraced house (also called terraced houses), which remains one of the most popular housing types in the United Kingdom. These houses are compact but, through clever planning and layout, offer cozy living space for singles, couples, and families. And: The rows of houses do not disrupt the existing surroundings but complement the building stock.
Not an intrusion, but a complement to the built environment—that is what our houses aim to be. The gabled roof with dormer is our choice at Vesenweg and represents traditional Vorarlberg architecture. We thus combine British cleverness with Vorarlberg building culture. The result: the 102 m² terraced houses at Vesenweg.
Everything a Home Needs
What does a property need to be called a home? We ask this question anew with every project—so far, at trimana, we have built 51 solid wood houses, gathering a wealth of knowledge that enriches each of our future projects.
A home needs storage space. The solid wood houses easily provide this, as all have their own basement. Furthermore, each terraced house has an additional private storage unit in the underground garage for tires, sports equipment, etc.
A home needs a meeting place—a spot where life together happens. The entire ground floor is exactly that place. Here you find the living kitchen, access to the terrace, and the garden.
A home also needs retreat spaces for its residents. With three bedrooms and a studio on the top floor, one can easily escape the bustle of the ground floor. But on 102 m², there is even more space. A home office is already planned.
A home needs outdoor space—with terraces and private small gardens or even large gardens, this wish is fulfilled.
A home also needs parking. The car finds a place in the underground garage, and there are plenty of storage options for bicycles, scooters, and the like.
A home needs a wood stove, at least that’s what we think, so we equip every house with a fireplace. This lays the foundation for a wood stove.
But it only truly becomes a home when the surroundings fit as well. When local suppliers, daily necessities shops, childcare facilities, schools, and medical practices are nearby or at least easily and quickly reachable on foot, by bike, or public transport. All this applies to this project. And: Nature begins almost right at the doorstep.
