Las Bandurrias Island On Las Rocas Lake

This stunning island on Las Rocas Lake, surrounded by evergreen native forest and with a view of the snow-capped mountains, offers a unique and awe-inspiring experience. The 5-hectare property is home to abundant species such as coihue, cypress, hazelnut, and ulmo trees, as well as fruit trees like cherries, sour cherries, and plum trees. Murta bushes are also scattered throughout the island, offering a delicious fruit in late March. The island is named Las Bandurrias and can only be accessed by navigating through a private local service that is consistent and takes about 15-20 minutes to reach. The island has two houses and some smaller structures, including chicken coops, a fuel storage shed, and a generator. A trail surrounds the entire island, connecting the various buildings and providing access to cozy viewpoints in places that invite rest and contemplation. The main house is constructed from alerce and cypress woods, with double-glazed windows offering views of the gardens, mountains and lake. The first floor features an entry hall, a good-sized living and dining area, all heated by a slow-burning wood stove. Additionally, there is a full bathroom and a spacious kitchen where a circular fireplace is the focal point. The second floor, accessed by a comfortable staircase, has three bedrooms and a full bathroom. The kitchen has a tank that provides hot water throughout the house. One of the kitchen windows looks out onto a winter garden and a laundry area with a gas stove, which also complements the main house. The second house is a cabin that is well-equipped for six people, with gas and wood-burning stoves, and is currently rented out on Airbnb. Both houses are powered by solar panels and a generator as needed. They have running water sourced from a spring and an electrical system that was upgraded five years ago to 220 watts. The roofs are in excellent condition and were also remodeled very recently. Each house has its own floating dock for the arrival and departure of boats, allowing for total independence between the two properties. From time to time, you can see Pudú deer, minks, and birds such as Cara Cara, hummingbirds, Magellanic woodpecker, and Tiuque hawks, as well as Hualas birds that nest on the shores over the water. Fishing is also rewarding here, with rainbow trout being plentiful. Las Bandurrias Island is a paradise of tranquility, offering everything needed to live sustainably while enjoying the breathtaking nature provided by the mountains and Las Rocas Lake.
