A 19th-century house, in a town, on building land, 30 minutes from Paris. The property is situated behind a stone surrounding wall. After passing through the entrance gate, the house, which was built in the second half of the 19th century as a pleasure residence, stands in the middle of an entirely enclosed garden. The property, which boasts a main section with a rigorously symmetrical facade divided between three vertical rows of openings, arranged in a soberly classic way, is divided into two harmoniously linked separate volumes. The building stands on a plinth course made of exposed stonework, which is not simply an aesthetic choice but the hallmark of a territory and era, namely the signature style of manor houses and villas from the Belle Époque period.
The light-coloured rendered facades are bordered by quoins and underlined by pearl grey stringcourses, giving the residence its distinctive character. Each window is protected by a wrought-iron guard-rail adorned with delicate motifs. The double-leaf entrance door is surrounded by a classical frame and topped by a discrete entablature. The roof made of dark coloured tiles is punctuated by hipped dormers, which are typical of noble rural architecture. Lastly, next to the residence, there is an outbuilding, which is a similarly styled caretaker’s house. Both stand in middle of an ornamental garden.
