This noble palace, arranged over three levels, is characterized by a portico composed of four bays with ribbed vaults, which includes the only entrance on Via delle Tovaglie. The entrance of the building is enhanced by a pointed arch portal, decorated with a finely worked sandstone architrave, giving the palace a distinctive appearance. Inside, there is a large courtyard and a small cloister, reminiscent of the ancient convent layout.
Significant structural interventions are underway for seismic improvement, adaptation of the load-bearing walls, consolidation of existing floors, creation of new wooden floors and roofing, as well as energy requalification interventions (class A/B). Acoustic insulation, chemical barriers, and treatments against humidity are also planned, along with external and internal plasters made of bio-lime, Venetian-style portico paving, internal courtyard paving with terracotta bricks, and marble flooring for the atrium, staircase, and landings. The fixtures will be made of wood with high insulating power.

Located within the historic center of Bologna, a short distance from the Basilica of San Domenico and just steps away from the pedestrian area of Via D’Azeglio, Casa Martelli offers a unique opportunity to live and work in a property rich in history, convenient to all services. The building dates back to the 15th century and is included in the list of protected assets by the FAI. Originally an ancient convent, it was transformed into a private residence by the Arcadian poet and playwright Pier Jacopo Martelli (or Martello) between the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Here the illustrious humanist lived with his family and hosted important writers and artists, including the famous painter Carlo Cignani (Bologna, 1628 – 1719), as recalled by the plaque affixed under the building’s portico.
