About

An urban oasis surrounded by pristine hillsides, Walnut Creek, California, is known for its mild climate and pic

An urban oasis surrounded by pristine hillsides, Walnut Creek, California, is known for its mild climate and picturesque setting at the foot of Mount Diablo. It offers a blend of urban flair, suburban grace, and peaceful wilderness. Its central Bay Area location and easy access to BART and major highways add to its appeal.

There is much to do in East Bay’s most ”urban” city. Walnut Creek is a haven for the arts and home to the City of Walnut Creek’s Arts + Rec program, one of the largest community arts programs in California. The program is open to adults, teens, and children, with classes in ceramics, dance, digital media, photography, music, drama, and more. Additionally, the Lesher Center for the Arts offers residents live performances throughout the year. The center also houses the Bedford Gallery, which exhibits works by historic, modern, and contemporary artists in multiple annual exhibitions, along with lectures, workshops, and panel discussions.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Walnut Creek provides access to Mount Diablo State Park, part of California’s extensive state parks system. Residents can hike the mountain’s trail system, bike to its 3,849-foot summit, or explore remote trails on horseback. The summit offers views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Farallon Islands, and Mount Lassen. The Gardens at Heather Farm is another popular outdoor destination, featuring six acres of sustainable gardens open to the public.

Walnut Creek is a family-friendly city with plenty of activities year-round. The Walnut Festival takes place in the fall, and Walnut Creek on Ice is a winter highlight. The Walnut Creek Aquanuts, a world-renowned synchronized swimming club, perform three times each year. In the summertime, the two-day Art & Wine Festival attracts more than 100,000 attendees, celebrating local art, wine, and the community.

Walnut Creek’s excellent quality of life is complemented by its educational opportunities, with well-regarded public and private schools serving the area. The city’s parks and recreational facilities, combined with its vibrant arts scene and convenient location, make it an ideal place to live for families, professionals, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Whether seeking urban excitement or suburban tranquility, Walnut Creek offers a unique blend of both.
