Meraviglioso castello sulla cima di una delle colline astigiane, a circa 5 km da Villafranca d’Asti e dalla s.s. Asti-Torino.
La struttura attuale corrisponde a una ristrutturazione settecentesca per adattare una precedente costruzione militare di cui era stata adibita a residenza di campagna
abbiamo notizie a partire dal 1300 come parte del marchesato di Montafia.
Composizione
Il piano terra, che presenta le caratteristiche volte a botte, è costituito da un asse centrale adatto ai veicoli lungo tutta la lunghezza del castello e da altri locali laterali, un tempo utilizzati come spifferi e deposito del grano.
Occupa una superficie rettangolare di circa 800 m
m2. comprese le due scale che portano al primo piano. Al di sotto c’è una grande cantina di circa 250 m2.
Il primo piano è composto da una terrazza di oltre 100 m2. (da cui nelle belle giornate si può godere di una splendida vista sulle Alpi) e lateralmente
casa di circa 600 m2. con sale di ricevimento, una sala da pranzo, una grande cucina e varie camere da letto.
Una grande scala interna conduce al secondo piano della stessa superficie occupato da due salotti, camere da letto e bagni.
Al terzo piano ci sono alcuni soppalchi.
Il tetto, completamente rifatto qualche anno fa (insieme alla rifinitura delle facciate in mattoni a vista), presenta un’ampia superficie sottotetto che potrebbe essere opportunamente sfruttata.
Il Castello è circondato da circa 7000 mq. di terreno coltivato ad orto, frutteto e giardino e degrada verso l’ex parco (ora prato alberato) di circa 2,5 ettari e un ripido bosco ceduo di circa 2 ettari.
Nel giardino c’è una piccola casa a tre piani (un tempo abitazione del custode).

The ground floor, which has characteristic barrel vaults, consists of a central axis suitable for vehicles along the entire length of the castle and other lateral rooms, once used as drafts and grain storage.
It occupies a rectangular surface area of approximately 800 m
m2. including the two staircases leading to the first floor. Below there is a large cellar of approximately 250 m2.
The first floor consists of a terrace of over 100 m2. (from which on nice days you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Alps) and on the side
house of approximately 600 m2. with reception rooms, a dining room, a large kitchen and various bedrooms.
A large internal staircase leads to the second floor of the same surface area occupied by two living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms.
On the third floor there are some mezzanines.
The roof, completely redone a few years ago (together with the trimming of the exposed brick facades), has a large attic area that could be appropriately exploited.
