Cabriès is a hilltop village in the Bouches-du-Rhône, positioned between Aix-en-Provence and Marseille on a ridge that has been inhabited since antiquity. The village retains its medieval core, with a château that once belonged to the painter Edgar Mélik, whose foundation still occupies the site. The surrounding landscape is defined by Provençal garrigue, pine woodland, and views across to the Étoile massif, giving the commune a distinctly rural character despite its proximity to two major cities.

Daily life centres on the village market and the local shops along the main thoroughfare. The Aix-en-Provence market halls and the commercial zone of Les Milles are both within a ten-minute drive. The Château de Cabriès, now the Musée Edgar Mélik, is open to visitors and sits at the heart of the old village.

Cabriès sits approximately 15 kilometres west of Aix-en-Provence and 20 kilometres north of Marseille, both reachable by car in under 25 minutes via the A51 and A7 motorways. Marseille-Provence Airport is roughly 20 kilometres away, a drive of around 20 minutes, making international connections straightforward. The TGV station at Aix-en-Provence TGV links to Paris Gare de Lyon in approximately three hours.
