Padenghe on the Garda

It is located on the shore of lower Lake Garda in the province of Brescia. The town is perched on a hill in a beautiful panoramic area and is part of the Valtenesi, a morphological unit that begins in Portese, near Salò, and ends in Desenzano del Garda.

Archaeological finds testify that the occupation of Padenghe dates back to the Neolithic. In Roman times, the town was an important port used for bartering. The noble families of the emperor’s court in Milan commissioned luxurious villas and temples.

For reasons of defense against barbarian invasions, the settlement was moved from the lake shore to the hill, where the tower was later built. The city has a small port and a beautiful long beach with welcoming bars and renowned restaurants.

The climate is mild, and the vegetation is Mediterranean, typical of the areas south of Lake Garda. As in many other cities and towns around Lake Garda, the surrounding areas are surrounded by meadows with vineyards, olive groves, and cypresses.
