Ibiza Town is the administrative and cultural capital of the island, built around the UNESCO-listed old town of Dalt Vila, a walled citadel of Phoenician origin that rises above the working harbour. The lower town, Sa Penya and La Marina, is dense with 19th-century merchant architecture, independent galleries, and some of the most consistently good restaurants in the Balearics. The city carries genuine historical weight while remaining one of the most internationally connected addresses in the Mediterranean.

Daily life centres on the covered Mercat Vell in La Marina, the restaurant terraces along Carrer de la Mare de Déu, and the harbour promenade. Restaurants such as La Brasa and Locals Only draw a year-round clientele. The old town walls are a ten-minute walk from the port, and the beaches of Talamanca and Figueretes are within two kilometres.

Ibiza Airport sits approximately seven kilometres from the city centre, a drive of around fifteen minutes, and operates direct routes to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, and most major European cities, with particularly strong connectivity from April through October. Year-round scheduled services connect to Madrid and Barcelona in under an hour. A regular ferry service links Ibiza Town to Valencia, Barcelona, and Palma de Mallorca, with crossings ranging from two to eight hours depending on the route and vessel.
