Calvia is the administrative capital of the Calvià municipality, one of the wealthiest local authorities in Spain by per capita income. Positioned just south of the Tramuntana foothills in southwest Mallorca, the village retains a genuinely rural character, with stone-built country houses and a pace of life that contrasts sharply with the coastal resorts the municipality also governs. Palma Airport, one of the busiest in Spain handling direct routes to most major European cities, is roughly 20 to 25 minutes by car. Ferry connections from Palma serve Barcelona, Valencia, and Ibiza, with crossing times ranging from one hour by fast ferry to around eight hours overnight.
