Artà is one of the most characterful inland towns in northeastern Mallorca, set against the Serra de Llevant hills and long regarded as one of the island’s most authentic municipalities. The historic centre is defined by the fortified sanctuary of Sant Salvador, which crowns the town and is visible for miles around, and by a compact medieval streetscape of stone townhouses and artisan workshops. Artà has attracted a discerning international community without losing its distinctly Mallorcan identity.

The weekly Tuesday market draws locals and residents from across the region. Restaurants such as Es Cantonet and Café Parisien serve reliable Mallorcan cooking in the town centre. The beaches of Cala Torta, Cala Mesquida, and the resort of Cala Rajada are all within a fifteen-minute drive.

Palma is approximately 75 kilometres from Artà, reachable in around one hour by car via the Ma-15. A regional train service connects Artà to Manacor and onward to Palma, with a journey time of roughly 90 minutes. Palma de Mallorca Airport handles direct flights to most major European cities and is the primary international gateway, situated approximately 80 kilometres from the town.
