The Property:
The wonderful ”Schloss Wagram,” also known as Schloss ”Freisinger Freihof,” first mentioned in the 13th century, features a Baroque facade and is lovingly maintained, a rarity for historic properties on the market.
Situated on a plot of approximately 10,176 m² in the cadastral community of Wagram an der Traisen, the two-story building has a low hipped roof. Its floor plan is horseshoe-shaped, with the street-facing east wing having only four window axes, and the former granary serving as the west wing. Significant renovations took place in this area around the mid-20th century. The south-facing central section has seven window axes. To the north, the complex is open, forming a shallow courtyard that transitions into the park. Within it stands a statue of St. John of Nepomuk from the second half of the 18th century. The Baroque facades, painted yellow and white, feature straight and rounded window hoods. The rooms in the west wing have high barrel vaults, while those on the ground floor of the south wing have late 16th-century ribbed barrel and groin vaults. The upper floor rooms, with ceiling heights of about 2.70 m, are adorned with Baroque stucco mirrors. The castle is surrounded by a well-maintained park.
Historical plans of the castle exist but without exact area details. The total built-up area is about 683 m², including approximately 474 m² for the castle, around 95 m² for the garages, about 94 m² for the gatehouse, and roughly 20 m² for the chapel. Additionally, on the ground floor between the castle and gatehouse, there is a carport for three vehicles and bicycles.
The usable area of the castle, based on own measurements, is approximately:
- Ground floor: approx. 290 m² - Upper floor: approx. 320 m² - Gatehouse: approx. 85 m² - Chapel with crypt: approx. 17 m²
(Note: These measurements are provided for orientation only and no liability is assumed.)
The castle has a metal roof covering, while the gatehouse and chapel have tiled roofs. Inside, you will find marble floors, stone floors, and beautiful parquet flooring. Tiled stoves and open fireplaces provide cozy warmth. Additionally, heating is supplied by an oil heating system with a 10,000-liter oil tank.
The ground floor of the castle is accessible from the courtyard via three entrances. Another entrance leads to the approximately 72 m² event room, and a north-side ground floor access leads from the wellness area to the covered pool.
The horseshoe-shaped castle offers several living rooms and bedrooms, two kitchens, dining rooms, four toilets, two bathrooms, and two additional showers. Room heights are about 2.70 m. Inside, two attractive staircases lead to the upper floor.
A wine cellar with a brick vault is available for you and your guests to enjoy unforgettable wine tasting evenings.
