House With The View Where History Protects The Alentejo

There are places where the world seems to pause just to let us breathe. This property, perched at the top of Evoramonte at an altitude of nearly 500 meters, is one of them. The view is absolutely breathtaking.
The illustrious next-door neighbor (literally) is the imposing Evoramonte Castle. Founded in the 12th century, it stands as the warrior protector of both the horizon and its people.

The castle and its medieval walls embrace those who live up at the top. It is within this incredible setting that we find this house.

Its recent history began in 2015, when two remarkable people with a world of travel experience, having lived just about everywhere, decided that Europe was where they wanted to lay the groundwork for their next big adventure. They were looking for a calmer lifestyle, far from the fast-paced pulse of big cities. They found it here. When they went up to Evoramonte for the first time to visit an old restaurant with attached rooms, they were immediately captivated by the disarming simplicity of the place and the vastness of the landscape.

They bought it and, after a careful renovation completed in 2017, transformed this space into their own home (a 1-bedroom unit with an independent entrance) and, simultaneously, into a charming local guesthouse featuring 3 rooms and a 1-bedroom apartment.
It became a gathering point for travelers, a home filled with shared moments, yet offering the privacy and serenity that only the Alentejo can provide.

In addition to the privacy of the rooms, there are several common areas designed to enjoy the scenery, socialize, and relax, including a large terrace and a cozy corner where meals and drinks are served.

Outside, the garden and terraces are a true privilege of this property. The view remains consistently breathtaking.

The garden hides small corners where time seems to stand still and the view takes center stage. Facing west, they look out over the Alentejo cork oak forests (montado). From there, you can witness a unique sunset every single day that leaves you breathless.

The tranquility is absolute and the location is perfect: right next to the highest point of the Serra d’Ossa, with the ideal proximity to the vibrant cities of Évora and Estremoz.
