Making Choices in Real Estate
“I had already been working in real estate for several years before I came into contact with De Landerije,” Gernant explains. “I started at a local real estate agency where everyone was welcome. When I joined De Landerije, I realized that things can be done differently. De Landerije truly makes deliberate choices, with a clear focus on rural and distinctive living. Homes with a story that deserve and receive a different kind of attention and marketing when they are sold.”

Real Estate Agent and Marketer
A real estate agent sells (or buys) homes on behalf of clients. Gernant says: “That’s indeed what most people think of when they think of an agent. But we see it differently. De Landerije does not want to be a ‘standard’ real estate agency. We genuinely have a strong story and added value to offer our clients. Let me explain. I have attended the largest marketing and real estate conference in New York three times. During one of the sessions, the most influential marketer in the USA delivered a keynote speech. His message was: ‘Find your story, stick to your story and let others tell your story.’ It gave me goosebumps. I thought: that is exactly what we do! For decades, we have been building our story. It has earned us significant brand recognition and a strong reputation. And it’s not just something I say or think, it’s our clients and other decision makers who spontaneously mention our name.”

We Know How to Find the Buyer
Unlike many real estate agencies, De Landerije makes clear choices. Gernant explains: “We focus on distinctive and more exclusive homes in the higher price segment. Our website gives a clear impression of that. It requires much more from an agent to find the right buyer for these types of properties. And that is precisely De Landerije’s strength. We tailor our presentation to the target audience. But we also know where this audience is and how they gather information. Buyers rarely come from the ‘local’ region and increasingly come from the Randstad area. Interestingly, many buyers do not find us through Funda (although we are of course visible there), but through our own media channels or exclusive websites and magazines. And these are often people with genuine interest and, importantly, the financial means.”

De Landerije as a Franchise Formula
“It truly is a privilege to work for De Landerije,” Gernant states firmly. “When I ring someone’s doorbell, I often think: wow, how special that I get to do this work. With that mindset, I chose a franchise model with independent offices across the country. I am still happy with that decision every single day. I have gained fantastic and entrepreneurial fellow agents, and our brand recognition has grown even further. Together, we form a close-knit team, each with our own specialties in construction, architecture, or history. We also use each other’s networks and strengthen one another. I genuinely wish every real estate agent could do the kind of work we do. That’s why my door is always open. In an easy market, anyone can sell a house, even the most luxurious farmhouse or villa. The strength of De Landerije lies in the fact that, by staying true to our story, we perform well in both strong and more challenging markets.” With a smile, he concludes: “And that is exactly why I wish De Landerije for everyone.”
