Czech Republic Sotheby’s International Realty presents an exceptional country estate for sale in the Strakonice region, at the foothills of the Šumava Mountains. Preserved elements were restored, while irreparable features were replaced with hand-crafted replicas based on historic originals. Windows replicate 19th-century originals, while doors, staircases, cast-iron radiators, period ironmongery and timber structures were individually crafted or restored. The thatched roofs were laid and tied by hand, insulated with natural sheep’s wool, and the open attic interiors retain their striking exposed roof structures. Period-inspired furniture, paintings, hand-woven rugs, linen curtains and bespoke lighting complete an atmosphere that feels naturally shaped by the history of the place rather than newly created.
