Pollensa occupies the northeastern corner of Mallorca, where the Serra de Tramuntana meets a broad agricultural plain before the coastline opens into the Bay of Pollensa. The old town, built around a hilltop calvary and a medieval parish church, has retained its character as a working Mallorcan community rather than a purely tourist destination. Its weekly Sunday market, stone-paved streets, and well-preserved historic core give it a cultural weight that distinguishes it from the resort towns further south.

Puerto Pollensa, the marina district roughly six kilometres from the old town, offers direct beach access along the Passeig Voramar promenade. Restaurants including Stay and La Llenties are established local fixtures. The old town’s Sunday market and the Cafe Espanyol on Plaça Major serve as daily reference points for residents.

Palma de Mallorca Airport is approximately 65 kilometres from Pollensa, a drive of around 55 to 65 minutes via the Ma-13 motorway. The airport operates year-round international routes to major European cities, with significantly expanded frequency from March through October. There is no rail connection to Pollensa; private car or taxi remains the standard means of reaching Palma and the airport. Ferry services from Palma connect to Barcelona, Valencia, and Ibiza.
