Santa Maria del Camí sits in the heart of the Raiguer region, in the broad agricultural plain that runs across central Mallorca between the Serra de Tramuntana and the eastern hills. It is a working Mallorcan town, not a resort, with a character shaped by centuries of viticulture, almond farming, and artisan craft. The Sunday market, the limestone parish church, and the low-rise streets of traditional stone architecture give the town a coherence and authenticity that coastal settlements rarely retain.

The Sunday market on Plaça dels Hostals is a genuine local institution, drawing residents from across the island for antiques, produce, and leather goods. Celler Macià Batle, one of Mallorca’s most established wineries, operates just outside town. Palma is 18 kilometres to the southwest, reachable in under 20 minutes by car or by the Palma-Inca rail line, which stops in Santa Maria del Camí.

The Palma-Inca railway provides direct rail access to Palma city centre in approximately 25 minutes, making this one of the better-connected inland towns on the island. Palma de Mallorca Airport is roughly 25 kilometres away, around 25 to 30 minutes by car. The airport operates year-round international routes to major European hubs including London, Frankfurt, Barcelona, and Madrid, with significantly expanded frequency during the summer season.
