Saint-Tropez occupies a singular position in the French Riviera, a fishing village turned global reference point for Mediterranean luxury that has retained its physical scale and architectural character despite its international profile. The old town, with its ochre and terracotta facades around the Place des Lices and the Vieux Port, remains the social and spatial core of the commune. The surrounding hills, including the Quartier Pinet, offer elevated positions above the bay with direct access to both the village and the coastline.

Daily life in Saint-Tropez centres on the Marché de la Place des Lices on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, the restaurants along the Quai Jean Jaurès, and beaches including Tahiti and Pampelonne. Senequier and Le Café remain the established café addresses on the port. The Musée de l’Annonciade holds a notable collection of Post-Impressionist and Fauvist works.

Saint-Tropez has no rail connection. The nearest train station is at Saint-Raphaël, approximately 35 kilometres away, with regular services to Nice, Marseille, and Paris via TGV. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is roughly 100 kilometres by road, typically 90 minutes outside peak season and considerably longer in summer. Helicopter transfers from Nice to Saint-Tropez take approximately 30 minutes and are widely used by residents during the high season.
