Saint-Raphaël sits at the western edge of the Esterel massif, where the deep red porphyry rock of the Corniche de l’Esterel meets the Mediterranean. The town has been a destination since the Belle Époque, when the railway brought Parisian society south, and its architectural legacy from that period remains visible along the seafront and around the old port. It occupies a distinct position on the Côte d’Azur: less commercialised than Cannes, more accessible than Saint-Tropez, and with a genuine year-round residential character.

Daily life centres on the covered market on Place Victor Hugo, the restaurants along the Vieux Port, and the beaches of Santa Lucia and Boulouris. The Corniche de l’Esterel provides direct road access to Cannes in under 30 minutes. Fréjus, with its Roman amphitheatre and additional retail, is five minutes away by car.

Saint-Raphaël station sits on the main TGV-connected coastal line, with direct services to Marseille in around 80 minutes and to Nice in approximately 50 minutes. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport, the primary international hub for the region, is roughly 60 kilometres east, reachable in under an hour by car or via a combination of train and shuttle. Cannes is approximately 35 kilometres to the east along the N98.
