Molteni&C interiors, on the mouth of the La Barra stream where it meets the Atlantic

The Rock is a limited collection of 25 residences and super-luxury penthouses on one of the most distinctive sites in Punta del Este: a promontory at the mouth of the Maldonado stream, where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. The name comes from the setting. The building stands alone on the peninsula and follows the natural slope of the land.

Architecture by Carlos Ott
The project was designed by Uruguayan-Canadian architect Carlos Ott. His work includes the Opéra Bastille in Paris, the Telecommunications Tower in Montevideo, the National Bank of Dubai, Ushuaia International Airport and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Punta del Este. Juan Olagüe is the executive architect. The building uses staggered, interconnected volumes and cantilevered terraces that follow the coastline, so each residence gets panoramic views of the ocean and the Maldonado stream.

Interiors by Molteni&C
The interiors are by Molteni&C, the Italian high-end furniture house founded in 1934. The design combines custom built-in pieces with freestanding furniture from the Molteni&C collection. Kitchens use the Hi-Line 6 linear model, and bedrooms have Gliss Master walk-in wardrobe systems by Vincent Van Duysen. Molteni&C also designed the lobby and social areas.

Location
The Rock has direct access to the seaside promenade that runs along the whole city. The La Barra bridge is less than 1 km to the east, and the center of Punta del Este is along the promenade in the other direction.

The Developer
The developer is Tiburón Desarrollos, a Punta del Este company active since 1960 with more than 300,000 m² built. Its projects include Torre Fragata, Torre Gattas, Tiburón 1, 2 and 3, Surfside, Grey Stone and Portofino. Its land developments include Rincón del Indio and Altos del Pinar.
