Grasse occupies a hillside position in the Alpes-Maritimes, roughly 15 kilometres inland from Cannes, at an elevation that keeps temperatures noticeably cooler than the coast. The city is internationally recognised as the historic centre of the French perfume industry, a status that has shaped its architecture, its economy, and its identity for centuries. The old town retains its medieval street pattern, with narrow lanes, Baroque churches, and ochre-toned facades that reflect the character of inland Provence rather than the Riviera.

The Plascassier quarter, on the eastern edge of Grasse toward Valbonne, offers direct access to the weekly markets at Valbonne and Grasse, the restaurants along the Route de Cannes, and the golf courses at Opio and Mougins. Cannes and its commercial centre are approximately 20 minutes by car.

Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is approximately 40 kilometres from Grasse, reachable in 35 to 45 minutes by car depending on traffic, with direct connections to most major European cities and long-haul routes. The A8 motorway provides fast access to Cannes, Nice, and Monaco. A regional train service connects Grasse to Cannes in around 35 minutes, with onward connections to Nice and the broader SNCF network.
